** Stolen objects from the Abomey Museum **

Objects stolen from the Abomey Museum in Benin in 2001 have still not been
recovered, despite appeals through Interpol, the press and other organs of
the Benin media.

The objects listed below were stolen in June 2001 at the time of the
Francophone Ministers Conference in Cotonou:

- 2 carved doors from the tomb of King Glele
- the anthropomorphic statue az?-loko of the god Sakpata ? inventory
number:2000.2.36
- an anthropomorphic statuette bochio ? inventory number:67.7.13
- plate of f? ? inventory number:ab.45.7.60
- stool (throne) of King T?gb?ssou (no inv. number)
- the giant Goubassa holding miniatures of arms used  in the Danxome kingdom
? inventory number:ab.45.8.170
- 't?te d'assin' of assinkp? ? inventory number:ab.47.7.20

For the people on Benin, and for all of Africa, these unrecovered objects
are very dear to us all because there are no copies in the Museum.

This situation at the Historic Museum of Abomey is the same up to this day.
It is imperative that the search continues.
